The Woodworkers Guild

The Woodworkers Guild is a special Crafting Guild for Woodworkers. As soon as you enlist as a member, you are enable to buy special recipes, for crafing special wood weapons. The most experienced Woodworker can even craft second and first Age Weapons, which make him or her a very powerful crafter indeed. Membership of a crafting guild is exclusive. This means that you can only be a member of 1 crafting guild. As soon as you choose another, you loose all the benefits and all the reputation points of the Guild you once belonged.

Enlist as Guild Member
To enlist, you need to find the Master of Crafting Guilds. Such a Master can be found in crafting halls or at crafting site, like in Michel Delving (opposite of the stable master, I like that place!). Master of the Crafting Guilds are often found near a Master or Mistress of Apprentices. You can only enlist a Guild, after you reached at least the expert tier in the related profession. So, as a Woodworker, you have to reach Tier 3 by crafting Rowan weapons and components and ( after reaching Tier 2) crafting Ash Weapons and components. As soon as you reach the Expert level - at that tier you can harvest Yew wood - you can enlist The Guild.

The Woodworkers Guild is situatied in the crafting hall in Esteldin, and at this place you can buy the exclusive Guild recipes.

Working you way up in the Guild, from Initiate to Grand Master
You start as a Guild Initiate, and you have to work your way up by gathering experience until you are one of the Grand Masters of the Guild. In the Table below, you can see how many experience points you need to level up until Grand Master.

But beware! To level up you don't need normal XP by slaying monsters, doing quests or crafting wood. Instead of Xp, you need reputation points and you can earn these by crafting special Woodworkers Carvings. These Carvings can only be made after you acquired Tier3, and you can buy the recipes in the Woodworkers Guild. This Guild is located inside the crafting hall of Esteldin, in the North Downs. Just go inside the crafting hall, pick the left door - near the superior workbench and Tadhirien, a girl selling woodworkers recipes. You can buy the Carving recipes from a dwarf, called Guthki. Other recipes are sold by two ladies, Rinfindiel and Tawarbes. Just look around and decide what you need or what you have to do to buy a recipe. In general this will be leveling by crafting wood, and by earning reputation point by crafting carvings.

Huge Bag

I recently installed the plugin Huge Bag, and I have to say its brilliant!

The Huge Bag Plugin is Awesome!

Huge Bag will make one big bag from your 5 or 6 small bags, with the option to sort and merge the items in the bag. There is also a search option for all the items in your vault, even from all your alts. Interested how this plugin works? Just follow the notes below and have fun with it!

1. First download the plugin
You can download the Huge Bag plugin here
The downloaded document is a zipped document, and is called: called Hugebag v1.13.65.zip
If you want some information about the plugin and the maker, look here

2. Unpack the plugin
The plugin is zipped and with an unzip program you can unpack it in a folder which is called: Hugebag v1.13.65
Installing the plugin

3. Install the plugin
Go inside the folder (open the folder) Hugebag v1.13.65, you will find another folder called HabnaPlugins.
You have to drag this folder into a folder called
'Plugins' which is situated in your Lord of the Rings Online folder. Your Lord of the Rings Online folder is situated in the My Documents folder. Generally there is a shortcut on your desktop with this name. Normally, the My Documents folder is situated on the C disk of your computer.

If you don't have such a folder in the Lord of the Rings Online folder, create a new folder with the title Plugins (just click on you right Mouse button and select New -> Folder, and name it Plugins.

After you have put the HabnaPlugins Folder into the Plugins Folder, start the game.

Activate the plugin by following steps 1 to 3
4. Activate the Plugin when you start the game
As soon as you see the startup screen with one of your characters, stop!
  1. Select the 'Manage Plugins Button, and after this the Plugin Manager will open automatically.
  2. In the  the Plugin Manager select the HugeBag v.1.13.65 Plugin by clicking on it
  3. Than select one named or (preferably) All Characters in the drop-down screen (bottom right, see example above)
  4. After you have done the steps 1, 2 and 3, start the game

5.Configure your Huge Bag
When you start the game, you will see a transparent widget in the right bottom corner of your screen (see picture below). Click on it, and the huge bag will open!
The Huge bag widget
Personally, I am not very fond with the transparent widget, if you open it your Huge Bag will also be transparent, and it makes the sort and search buttons a bit difficult to read:
Opening the Huge bag in widget mode
To change the widget mode in the well known Lotro bag, move your Mouse pointer towards the upper left corner of the transparent Huge bag. A white mouse icon will appear, with a green right button on it (see picture below). This icon means: press the right mouse button on that place, and a configuration menu will appear.

Configure the Huge bag, by clicking the right mouse
button on the spot where the mouse icon appears

After you have clicked at the right place, there will be a menu (see picture below). For now, just select the option "Change between widget and window mode". After you have done this, the widget will disappear. Now, you can click on one of your bags and the Huge bag will open. Pressing the <I> key (inventory) will also open the huge bag.

The window mode of the Huge Bag is really brilliant! In the picture below you can see that in my Huge bag 0 spots are free, so the Huge bag its totally full! The maximum size of my bag is 90 spots, and i have used 90.

Huge Bag in Window Mode
Take also a look at the buttons, called Sort, Merge, Search, Bags, Vault and Shared Storage.
If these buttons overlap, just drag them into the right position.
By clicking Merge, separated items of the same sort will stack, which is very nice. By clicking Sort, the bag will be sorted. Sometimes you have to do this twice. By clicking the button Bag you can view the contents of each bag, of each character. Very handy. And .... by clicking on Vault or Shared Storage, you can see which items are in your vault, or your shared vault. By selecting all characters, you can even view all the vaults. This is really awesome, since you don't have to travel anymore to look into your vault, or loading several characters if you have forgotten which one has stored that so wanted recipe! Just try it out and wonder about this excellent plugin.

Adventuring in West-Rohan

$

OK, finally I have decided to give West Rohan a go. I already did it with a runekeeper, but this time I will level a Lore-master from level 85 to 95. I will keep a blog about my travels and quests. So, this is the first part of my voyage to level 95.

Traveling fast in West Rohan
Starting in West Rohan
When you enter West Rohan, the first thing you will notice, is the absence of quest rings. Besides killing animals, wargs and orcs, it is a bit frustrating to pick up some descent quests. Where to begin? Also, the lands of West Rohan seems totally depleted of people, where are all the players? This is a dull world at first glance.

After talking to a single player I met in one hour, it was told to me that most of the quests in West Rohan are "sequenced", so you have to complete a certain quest before you can start another quest.Mmm, it seems a seek and hide area so to hear... Another complication of the West Rohan quests, is that the local quests are mixed with the Epic questline (Volume III.). Which means that the local questline will open only if you have completed Volume III Book 11.

Again, I asked myself, hopelessly lost in West Rohan, where to start?

Entering West Rohan at Eaworth
I entered West Rohan by crossing the river east of Eaworth. The first village I encountered was Oserley in a zone called the Broadacres. No quests where there. A little bird told me, that some quests may be offered in Edoras, the Capital of West Rohan. Sigh, that is a hell of a ride southwards... And no guarantee for quests, it's only hearsay of course.

OK, up to go to Stoke, maybe somewhere there will tell me more. Luckily I have a light Warhorse with the dash skill, So I can ride quickly to the south.

Stoke
I entered Stoke, but besides some people there seems nothing to do here. Only some tasks to be picked up, but these are so boring that I declined for them. The meadhall seemed promising, and there were even a lot of people inside. Alas, the bosses, miss Frithild and mister Grimmar, did have a vow of silence, and the only stared blankly to me. What is this place? What is going on in West Rohan? Is the world going totally quiet here? Luckily, someone burped, at least some response (but the only one I got).

OK, i get the message. Nothing here for me. So strange. I never encountered such a dull kind of people in Middle Earth. No quests, no talkies, nothing. Only lifeless 'puppets', acting like Rohan inhabitants. Well, let's go to the village of Middlemead in the zone of Kingstead. The name is not promising, it sounds like medioce. But who knows, maybe someone is in dire need and I can get my most wanted quest.

Entering Middlemead

Middlemead
The Stable-master told me that these are desperate times for the Rohirrim. He didn't even know if they will survive the oncoming onslaught of the orks. Wow, these people are hopeless! Maybe I can help?
I entered the Mead Hall, and asked Mágle, the Thane of Middlemead, if he had some quests for me. But, like the rest of the other villages, he stared only "ins blaue hinein". Maybe a spell? Or a vow of silence? Or am I cursed in this land and nobody sees me? Aaargh. Ok, to the west them, to Entwade. Who knows if there is somebody in dire need. Although....

A small orc camp with one Adorned Chest

To Entwade
Before entering Entwade I found a little orc camp, at 56.7S and 68.0W. There was one Adorned Chest in the camp, which is interesting for a scholar like me. It contained 2 tattered Rohirric Parchments, a nice reward in this godforsaken land. I marked the chest location on my artifacts map.
After I left the camp, I decided to take a shortcut to Entwade. I saw 2 Uruk-Hai Ambushers on horse and a strange wooden crate, some 100 meters north of the camp (56.3S, 67.6 W). Let's investigate!
Travelling to Entwade

I seems to be a Crate of Kingstead Crops and that one started the "Demanding Supply" quest. These crates have survived the Uruk onslaught  and there seems to be 7 more crates with crops. Okay, finally something to do in empty West-Rohan! The other crates I found at 56.0S, 67.5W, 55.8S, 67.4W,  55.7S, 67.3W, 55.7S, 67.0W and 4 near a destroyed cart at 55.7S, 66.9W.
There are many Uruk-Hai Ambushers at this spot, but by traiting the Loremaster's  Keeper of Animals Class Trait, it is a simple job. Just summon your Bog-guardian, set your pet on aggressive and let him do all the work.

Entwade itself is a simple settlement with a big barn and a Mead Hall. You can enter it from Garsfeld in East Rohan by travel east and crossing a floating bridge along the river. Again, there was no quest to be found here, so I have still to follow the little bird trail to Edoras.

Bosa's farm is burned to the ground!
Before I rode to Edoras, a burned farm and cornfield drawed my attention. It was a sad sight, the charred houses and field which were once the proud  property of Bosa's farm. At 54.7S 68.3W there was another Adorned Chest. This implied that at burned sites in West Rohan, there is a chance that scholar artifacts can be found here. And indeed! Some 50 meters north I found 2 other Adorned chests, which I marked on my artifacts map.

Edoras
I finally made it to Edoras, but the Mead Hall was closed for people who didn't have the appropriate quest. What?! Did I have traveled all these forsaken fields to find a closed door at Edoras? Yep... it seems so.

What now?? I asked a lonely traveler at Edoras: "Where to start in West Rohan?". I got the answer that I either have to start at the Entwash, just a little north of Snowborn, or I can start in the Wildermore region and doing the Wildermore epic questline.

Ehhh ... epic quests? In the Wildermore region? Oh nooo! Why Wildermore? That's east Rohan, not west!
Mmm. Well, I don't have any other options, since I already visited Entwash and there was nothing there. Sigh .... OK I checked my quest log and it seems that i have an active quest there: Wildermore introduction: speak with Harding...

Tier 8 and Tier 9 artifacts in Rohan

Rohan is the place to be to search for tier 8 and tier 9 scholar artifacts. This huge region is devided in an eastern part - East Rohan or Eastemnet - and a western part, West Rohan or Westemnet. Both parts of Rohan are divided in several areas:

Eastemnet (East Rohan) - Tier 8: Ornate Caches
1. The Wold (start area for lvl 74-77)
2. The East Wall (lvl 75-78 area)
3. Norcrofts (lvl 78-80 area)
4. Entwash Vale (lvl 79-81 area)
5. Eaves of Fangorn (lvl 81-83 area)
6. Sutcrofts (lvl 83-85 area)
7. Wildermore (lvl 84-85 area)

Westemnet (West Rohan) - Tier 9: Adorned Chests
1. Kingstead (start area lvl 84-87)
2. Eastfold (lvl 86-88)
4. Broadacres (lvl 89-91)
3. Stonedeans (lvl 90-93)
5. Westfold lvl 93-95)

Tier 8 -  Eastemnet - Ornate Caches

Ornate caches can be found in East Rohan and these wooden boxes contains 2 types of raw material:

- Scrap of Rohirric Text

- Piece of Sealed Wax.

Sometimes, especially in heavy ornate caches, you can find the very rare Tarnished Crest of Rohan. However, it is stated that this is a very rare drop from scholar artifacts, much rarer than the droprate from wood and ore...

The East Wall and The Wold have the best spots for scholar artifacts in Eastern Rohan, and they can be found in ruins (look careful at the map for these places!) and in orc camps. In all other regions in Eastern Rohan scholar stuff seems to be rare. Outside the Wold and the East Wall I have found only 4 places until now with ornate caches.  These places are located in orc camps or dungeons - even instances - , guarded by many orcs or undead.

Norcrofts & Entwash Vale

For the Norcrofts and Entwash Vale I have constructed two maps with the places I know, but maybe there are some more to find. However, none of  the locations in these areas has an easy access to loot the scholar artifacts. So, in conclusion I can advise you to concentrate your search in Eastern Rohan in the Wold, or - even better - south of the Argonath in the Eastwall region.

The Wold
The Wold is at high level (80+) a pretty easy area to look for ornate caches.A fairly easy loot-spot with 4 cases can be found in a ruined tower, just south of Ost Celebranth, across the river and over the bridge (turn left when entering East Rohan).
Somewhat more dangerous areas are the ruins in the Seething Mire with lots of salamanders. There are some quests here, so you can combine your search for ornate chasts here.
The big orc-camp at Joshkni-Orda is another interesting spot for combining quests and looking for ornate chests. Together with the ruined tower in the north, it is the most rewarding spot for scholar artifacts in The Wold.
In the other orc-camps you will find only single ornate caches, but it is up to you if you want to loot these sparse trunks with some Rohirric texts. Killing orcs will also result in some drops of Rohirric texts. So, if you want to enlarge your scholar stuff, you have to choose the aggresive way here.

Ornate caches in The Wold

East Wall

Orc camp near the Argonath [49.5S, 47.6W]
Three chests can be found here, but the camp is heavily infested with ranged orcs (skirmishers) and close combat orcs (mordor orcs). They will be not a great problem, unless you run around with your horse. Stand still and kill them one for one, the ranged ones first, because they can do a lot of accumulated damage. If you are in a hurry, or don't want to kill a lot of orcs, you can skip this place and travel south. Most other places in The East Wall are much easier to loot then this one, with a meager reward of 3 chests...

Ruined tower, south of the Argonath [54.9S, 49.8W]
A relatively easy place to look for artifacts. Just some orcs, who can be easily subdued. The tower can be seen east of the road, but at first sight the radar will show you nothing. Just ride somewhat closer and you will discover 2-3 ornate chests around the old walls of the tower .

Ruins near Tol Brandir [59.0S, 47.5]
Just before the Rauros and with a beautiful view of Tol Brandir, there is a ruin with some orcs and three ornate chests. Its an easy spot to loot some 3-6 Rohirric texts.

Road to Amon Hen and Hissing Pit
Along the road to Amon Hen, near the Hissing Pit,  there are 6 ornate chests. Two can be found at 58.0S, 50.4W and 58.0S, 50.4W. It is a quiet place with some scattered orcs which can be easily avoided. Four in a row can be found near the rock wall of 58.4S, 50.2W and two near the ruined tower of 58.8S, 49.9W. All these chests are a relatively easy loot for a shrewd scholar.

Amon Hen
Somewhat more difficult are the ruins of Amon Hen, just at the top of the stairs. I have found 4 chests, all around a stair to the top of Amon Hen, near 61.2S, 46.6W. One can even be found at the kings chair, at the highest point of Amon Hen. Sitting in the chair you will have a beautiful view into the lands to come...

The East Wall: a good starter region for scholar artifacts in east Rohan

Sutcrofts  no scholar artifacts!

Until now I didn't find any locations of scholar artifacts in the Suthcrofts. Although I am pretty sure that it is an empty place for scholar nodes, inform me if you find any location in this area.

Wildermore

Wildermore is the snowy region in East Rohan. It is situated north of the Entwash vale and the Norcrofts, and west of The Wold. You can enter this cold and white region by climbing one of the three small mountain paths in the neighboring zones. The mountain path from the Entwash Vale is pretty safe, but entering from the Norcrofts is - for a low level like lvl. 80 - somewhat more difficult. Many Uruks are guarding the Norcrofts trail winding into the Wildermore. If you enter the Wildermore from the Wold, its a safe route also (although a stray-orc may follow you). If you are on horse its no problem at all: keep running until your enemies getting bored and tired by following you.

I found a lot of scholar nodes in this fantastic region and they seem to be concentrated in the southern part of Wildermore. Almost all farms in the Fallows, the southeastern part of Wildermore, contain 2 or 3 caches.  Of course they are mostly guarded by orcs, which is pretty usual if you search for scholar artifacts. West from the Eastern Ice-spires you can find several spots with 2-3 Ornate caches, like the Western Ices-spires, the village of Dunfast, and the small orc camps along the road from Dunfast to Cerdic's Camp.
Try Writhendons Tomb also, inside you can find 2-3 caches, tight together.  For people who like blurred visions, just go to the Western Ice-spires. The air is so cold here - because of the high elevation - that your eyes will be frozen in minutes. A nice experience for polar enthusiasts....

At level 85 i think this is definitely the best region to look for ornate caches in Eastern Rohan. If you are somewhat lower in level, its rather dangerous and maybe its wise to loot the caches in the East Wall region, around Lake Nen Hithoel. If you don't like snow or the atmosphere of Forochel - Wildermore feels exactly the same as this polar region - go to the East Wall for your scholar stuff...

The Wildermore is the best zone for Ornate Caches in East Rohan!

Tier 9 -  Westemnet - Adorned Chests

Tier 9 Artifacts are Adorned chests, and they can be found in all regions of Westemnet. All these tier 9 chests contains Tattered Rohirric Parchments as raw material. The easiest locations to look out for Adorned Chests are situated in Kingstead and situated in Kingstead and the Eastfold. Most locations are guarded by a single orc or wild animal. More dangerous places can be found in the orc camps of Broadacres, Stonedeans and the Westfold. If you like some fights and some nice orc-loot, these regions are the most interesting for the danger seeking scholars.

Kingstead  new
Kingstead is the first region of West Rohan which you will normally enter, especially when you are starting your quests here. The Entwade is the starting location of all quests in West Rohan and is also a ideal station to begin your search for Adorned Chests.
Most locations are relatively easy to farm, only at Bosa's Farm you will encounter some pestering orcs. There are 4 locations of chests here, one along the road and the 3 others in the burned fields.
South of Bosa's farm is an abandoned orc-camp, with one chest. More to the west, around 56.9S and 70.5W, there are 3 locations between the stony hills
Near Folcbur's Homestead there are 2 other chests to be found. One chest can be found around or in the mill.
When you cross the river to Eastfold, you will find one chest in front of the mill of Pendlac's Farm. That chest will respawn relatively fast on the same spot, or some meters north of it.
If you follow the road further to the Eastfold, you will see a nameless ruin along the east side of the road. It's situated in a wooded area near the river. Actually, this spot is already in the Eastfold. Like all other artifact locations in Kingstead, both chests in the ruin are easy to loot.
When you are done here, just follow the road into the Eastfold and you will find two other spots with easy loot.

.
Kingstead is one of the easiest regions of West Rohan to look for Tier 9 artifacts

Eastfold  new

The Eastfold is the region south of Kingstead and east of Kingstead. It is one of the easiest areas for farming Adorned Chests, although the distribution of the artifacts is quite rare. There are two nameless ruins in the north and the east, which both contains 2 Adorned Chests.
Quite surprisingly is the location of 2 chests at the ruins directly north of the gate of Aldburg. All the locations with Adorned chests in the Eastfold are not guarded by much orcs, although occasionally some beasts may attack you. If you don't like endless fights with orcs, maybe these 3 places are interesting to circle around, since they have respawned every time when you reach the required spot.

Adorned chests in the Eastfold are quite rarem but very easy to farm!

Broadacres  new

Broadacres is the northern part of West Rohan. There seems to be only two locations with scholar artifacts. Both in orc infested place, so they are not easy to loot. Both locations are relatively rich in artifacts nodes, and situated in the western part of the Broadacres. If you want some orc-fights and some nice loot to, just head for Bradh-dorám and Torsbury.

Expect some fights when you are looking for artifacts in the Broadacres

Stonedeans  new

Stonedeans is a remote region of West Rohan, and situated in the northwest. This region is a bit remote to visit and the best chance to farm a lot of artifacts is by fighting your way through the orc and troll camp of Madh-fushaum.

Most of the adorned chests can be found in the big orc camp of Madh-fushaum, in the south. The camp is populated with lvl 92 orcs, some signature Uruk-hai Sentries (lvl 92, 29K morale) and several elite master White Hand Trolls (lvl 92, 147.7K morale). At the west entrance (54.7S, 79.4W) there are many Dunlending warriors and Uruk-hai warriors, and 1 chest to be found.  Two chests are located near siege towers at 55.1S, 79.1W and loosely guarded by Uruk-hai warriors. They can be easily slain. In the tent at 54.8S, 78.9W an interesting duscussion between Grima Wormtongue and an uruk-noss can be watched.
The north entrance is also loosely guarded, but 3 Elite Master trolls can be a very nasty surprise when you wan to get the 2 chest at this spot.

The other spots with Adorned chests are scattered throughout Stonedeans, and they can be found near Flodgeheld, Woodhurst and south of Brockbridge

Near  Woodhurst, around a small lake, there is a somewhat hidden settlement of lvl 61 Dunlending Ruffians; they live in wooden houses at the lake. At 47.9S, 80.1W , I found 1 adorned chest between a cattail vegetation bordering the lakeshore.

Directly south of Brockbridge there is a small Dunlendings camp with 6-8 lvl 92 dunleding warriors (51.7S, 77.8W). You can find only 1 ornate chest here. Depending on the spawning point, it is guarded by a signature White Hand (orc) Messenger of lvl 92 (29.5K morale), a lvl 92 Dunlending warrior, or a elite master orc, named Nágas (lvl 92, 147.7K morale). You can lure him out of the camp and slay him slowly riding and attacking on a warhorse.

Flodgeheld is a burned farm with a wooden tower in fire, at 53.6S, 80.8W you will find 1 Adorned chest, which is not guarded (although a lvl 92 Stonedeans Stalker may occasionally wandering here).

At 53.6S and 76.8W you will find a burning farm with 1 adorned chest next to a barn. There can be 1 Stonedeans Stalker here (lvl 91 wolf), which can be easily slain.
At 55.9S, 76.2W there is a burned farm with 2 chest locations: 1 near the bar and 1 in a burning field. The farm will give you also a pop-up quest, to slay 6 Gríma's bodyguards (lvl 92 white hand orcs). After you slay them, you can even have a funny encounter with Gríma Wormtongue (lvl 92 elite, 65.8K morale, he resides at 56.1S, 75.9W).
Near 53.3S, 78.2W there are two chests in a crude circle of rocky stones. One or two wolves resides here, but they are easy to slay.

Surprisingling, no chests where to be found in the heavy orc guarded camp of Mate Isernore, at 50.1S, 82.W. Probably these foul orcs have looted all the chests with valuable artifacts.

In Stonedeans, most chest locations are easy to loot, but the orc & uruk camp of Madh-fushaum can be very dangerous when you aggro the Elite Master trolls...

Westfold  new

Westfold is the southest part of West Rohan. It's the region with the famous Helm's deep in the southwest.

Adorned Chest's can be mostly found in the northwestern part, in the burned ruins and fields of Marton. Its a dangerous place with lvl 94 orc signature captains and mounted signature raiders (30-31k morale), lots of lvl 93-94 orcs & uruk-hai, and even some wandering lvl 94 warg pac-masters which are always accompanied by a howling warg ally.

To the west of the burned remains of Marton lies the Staging Camp. This is also a heavily guarded uruk-hai camp with lots of lvl 94 uruks and some lvl 94 sig uruk captains (32k morale). This big camp lies within a natural circle of rocky hills, which can be entered at 58.8S, 90.6W, 57.7S, 89.0W or 57.1S, 89.7W. Although there are many enemies here, this camp is interesting to loot, especially since slaying uruks will also add to the Westemnet Uruk Slayer deed (+1 compassion).

Atop of a rocky hill, at the Ford of Isen, I found two chests in a lvl 94 Dunlending camp, near 55.3S, 89.0W. The uphill path to enter this camp lies directly east near the Isen and is situated at 55.4S, 895W. Slaying Dunledings will also add to the Westemnet Dunledings Slayer deed (+1 compassion).

Another uruk camp with adorned chests is Lufût-mos, which lies also east of the Fords of Isen (in the upper northwest corner of Westfold).  The entrance to Lufút-mos can be found at 54.4S, 88.9W, where a winding path goes uphill to the camp. You can also entered the camp at the back, by travelling through the woods and enter it at 53.9S, 88.2W. There are many uruks in the camp, which add nicely to the Westemnet Uruk Slayer deed (+1 compassion).

Although to be expected, I didn't find any chests in the troll camp of Shatorthum at 53.8W, 87.1S. The same holds true for Helm's Deep.

Finally, an interesting location lies East of Grimslade. There are 4 chests to be found in the adjacent half-orc stockades of Fushum Raus. To find these camps, just head to the east when you leave Grimslade. First, slay some grouped half-orc scouts (they will come with 3 together), pass them and look for a camp with wooden palisades and a wooden watch tower near 62.7S, 80.8W.2 This is the first half-orc camp of Fushum Raus. Enter the camp and head for the next gate in the palisades, where you will find your first chest. If you follow your way inside, you will encounter 3 other Adorned chests in the camps. The half-orcs here are level 93-94 (15k morale), with some wandering lvl 94 signature captains (31.3k morale).

Adorned chests in the Westfold can be mostly found in the NW-part

The entrance of  Sammath Gûl

Sammath Gûl

Sammath Gûl is located in Dol Guldur, Mirkwood and is known to be one of the places where a Symbol of Celebrimbor drops (by the way: I didn't get one when I defeated him). With this symbol you can craft 2nd ages weapons of level 65. Also, you have to defeat Gorothul for the last quest of the Epic books, its Vol. II Book 9, Epilogue: Gorothúl of Dol Guldur. Btw. all 'Foreword' and 'Epilogue' quests are not actually part of the Epic Questline, even though they may be listed below the corresponding tab. Finishing this quest will give you only Medaillons and this quest isn't required for further gear or advancment.

Vol. II Book 9, Epilogue: Gorothúl of Dol Guldur can be activated with the instance finder(search for the tab: Sammath Gûl in Dol Guldur)

Mobs
When entering the castle you are attacked by many guards. They are no real problem, but avoid too much aggro. Beware the ranged ones, they can do a lot of damage. Harder are the Brutes, they have a 1 minute skill that make them invulnerable to attacks, also when he activates this skill he will absorb the damage given to his adds. Best strategy is to kill the adds first around the Brute, so they will not be affected by the Brute's skill, After that, kill the Brute. Stunning the adds ia a good strategy.
On the floor you will find some bone piles; they will activate a spirit mob, which can in turn summon a skeleton on a regular basis. If you need the quest to kill theundeads, just kill them, otherwise avoid stepping on a bonepile.

Mobs

First boss: Urchir
Urchir lies on a table and you will activate him when you come too close to him. First thing to do is to clear the room. Just aggro the groups of guards and finish them off. After that, you can wake Urchir by going to his dais. Before this, eat some in-combat regeneration stuff and apply some anti-fire damage stuff. When you are start fighting Urchir, don't stay on the grates, since there is a chance that flames will come from below.
If he says“Can you handle the burn?”,  Urchir will give you some massive burn damage. Keep close to your group and the damage will be splitted.
If he says “Will you bring doom to your friends?” split from the group and take the damage alone. It is a good stategy to run near the walls avoiding the grates areas.
When Urchir is getting low on morale the room starts filling with flames. That is the most damgerous part of the fight.Finish him off quickly when the flames come, so save your high DPS skills for this last part of the fight.

Fire Mitigations for your pet:
Raven/Eagle: use at least  Bag of Hearty Crumbs, or  Bag of Crispy Crumbs, or Bag of Eastemnet Crumbs
Bear: use at least Pot of Sweet Honey and Oats, or Pot of Scrumptious Honey and Oats , or Pot of Eastemnet Honey and Oats
Lynx: use at least  Cut of Lean Meat, or  Cut of Spicy Meat, or Cut of Eastemnet Meat
Bog-Guardian: use at least Bowl of Fresh Water, or Bowl of Spring Water, or Bowl of Eastemnet Water

Second boss: Alagossír
It seems that Alagossir will not fight anymore in a special arena, but he can still knock-back you pretty far. When he calls out your name, Alagossír will use his ranged one-hit kill attack. To avoid this, quickly get in melee range (about 2,5 meters) to avoid this deadly attack.
Alagossír will summon some lightnings at the end of the battle; to avoid a lot of damage, just stay close on the dais where you first met him.

Alagossir

Third boss: Gorothul
A very straightforward boss, who will consult Sauron first before he will fight you. Until he decides to fight, you can do nothing. After he starts fighting, kill him with lots of dps; some adds will help him, but they are not a big problem.

Boss Gorothul is conversing with ... Sauron!

Best gear & jewelry for the Loremaster

I almost wonder which gear is the best, especially for a Loremaster.
If you are not a raid-player, then that can be a problem if you want seriously the best gear, since the best can be required by doing raids. If you are a hunter-gatherer, maybe there is some alternative. Sell some good stuff on the Auction Hall and buy some good gear crafted by high level crafters.

GREAT RIVER LOCATIONS
The Great River is the portal between Lothlorien and Rohan. It is a great region with many locations to explore. I created 4 maps for the Adventurer, and if you visit all the locations on the maps, you will receive a nice amount of Turbine Points.

Visit all the marked locations, and you will receive a nice reward of Turbine Points

STANGARD LOCATIONS
Stangard is a big settlement and has a map of its own and there are many houses and persons to visit. Om the map below you will find all the 20 locations for the Stangard Explorer deed. Persons of interest are also marked, since some of them you you must visit if you follow the Great River Questline in Stangard.

Locations of persons and buildings in Stangard (Great River)

LIMLIGHT GORGE ELF-RUINS LOCATIONS
Scattered throughout the Limlight Gorge, you can find 6 Elf-ruins. Although they are not very difficult to locate - if you know where to look - it is wise to explore this part of the Great River very carefully. The Limlight Gorge is know for its gargantuan mobs, like giant walking trees, giant trolls and giant spiders. At level 95 its all easy, but beware when you are level 70! I will not provide the coordinates of the elf-ruins, only a detailed map. With this map only, it will be fun to find them since your search is not spoiled by the coordinates. Start your search near the Fallen Tower, since the ruin nearby is not heavily guarded by gargantuan trees. If you find your first elf-ruin, you will have a good idea where to look for!

Today I met Goesboom, a loremaster, on the US Brandywine server. A really friendly loremaster and a lifetime player like me. She told me a very good idea: lets start a lifetime kin. If you think thats a good idea too, maybe its interesting to start one. Or is there already a lifetime kin on Brandywhine?

Anyway, I started some new toons on the US Brandywine server and I really like it here. Biggest fun on Brandywhine is the big player community, it feels like playing in the old days, long ago (when Shadows of Angmar came out, 2007). Thx Brandywine for enjoying lotro again!
Btw one of my new toons is Pernilla, a hobbit minstel (see the picture below).

Recently I grouped with several Loremasters on the US Brandywine Server. Interesting fact of all these interesting fellowships was that many Loremasters where unaware of the flanking bonus that 3 skills can give you. They even didn't know for sure what flanking was. By some Loremasters, other skills where also virtually unexplored. So I decided today to construct a page with information about some useful Loremaster skills. Btw I am absolutely no expert Loremaster, so if you see some weird advice, or if you miss some special skills or skill combos, please feel free to comment.

Flanking
Flanking is an enemy's state which is invoked by an attack of the loremaster's combat pet. When flanking happens, your pet opens up three special maneuvers for your Loremaster. In game terms: the loremaster can take advantage of the flanking effect by using 3 types of skills:
  1. Get a damage bonusby using the skill Staff-strike (or Improved Staff-strike) on the enemy
  2. Get a morale bonusby using Sign of the Battle: Wizard's Fire on enemy (or Improved Sign of Battle Wizard's Fire)
  3. Get a power bonus from using the skill Staff-sweep on the enemy (or Improved Staff-sweep).
So, basically, you can get a power, damage or morale bonus when using a skill when an opponent is flanked by your pet. But remember the following things:
  • Only combat-pets can invoke flanking: flanking will only occur when using a combat-pet; so without a pet, or with a cosmetic pet, your opponent will not be flanked.
  • Know when your opponent is flanked: be sure to recognise when an opponent is flanked, and know which skill you must use to get the appropriate bonus type.
  • Know your flanking bonus skills: know which skill you want to use to get the flanking bonus, otherwise you are too late to take advantage of the flanking bonus.
  • Be quick: the flanking duration is only 7 seconds!
  • Know your flanking chance: the chance of getting a flanked opponent depends on the type of combat pet you use. For example, the lynx doesn't invoke many flanks, while the eagle and the bog guardian will give you many flank opportunities!

Know when your opponent is flanked
When a combat-pet is attacking an opponent, you will sometimes hear a 'chime' sound, which means that your pet has flanked an enemy! At first its a bit difficult te recognise the sound, but if you look closely to the small icons beneath the power bar of the enemy, you will see also the flanking icon. That icon has the shape of an open mouth (see the illustrations below!). The icon and the chime-sound are the best ways to know when your pet has flanked an opponent.

If you look closely to your opponent, you will also see a couple of pink arrows on the attacked enemy when flanked (see the picture below). I have to admit that these arrows are a bit difficult to see, and it's only possible to see them when you enable the “Particle Effects” option (Menu-> Options-> Combat Options).  If you have a slow PC, its better to learn the chime sound and to recognise the flanking icon below the pet's target.

When your pet attacks an enemy, look closely at the small icons below the monster's power bar (blue bar)
You can drag your mouse pointer above the icon, and a tooltip will appear. If you read the tooltip, you will learn that this icon is a specific enemy stance, and that the enemy is not flanked (until now...).

If you pet has flanked an enemy, three things will happen simultanously: 1) you hear a chime sound, 2) you will see a flanking icon below the enemies power bar, 3) you will see pink arrows around your enemy.
When your opponent is flanked by your pet, you will see a screaming mouth icon. use your mouse pounter to read the tooltip (although it's wiser to use a skill to get the flanked bonus, since the flank effect will only last 7 seconds!).

Know your flanking bonus skills
When your pet has flanked an enemy, the Lore-master has 3 options to take advantage of that state:
  • Use (Improved) Staff Strike, it can do double the damage. Remember this is a melee skill and that you have to run to your flanked enemy and hit him with the staff. It may be not so wise to do it when it is a boss has lots of morale, since he can hit you when you are standing close to him, in stead of your pet (use always your pet as a tank!).
  • Use Sign of Battle: (Improved) Wizard’s Fire, and heal yourself for a small amount. The heal usually amounts to a morale-pot at the same level. This heal can crit and give you up to two times its normal morale heal bonus. This is a very usefull skill, since it is ranged and will not aggro a boss to attack you. Use this one a lot when attacking a high morale enemy. You can also heal your pet, so it will not die quickly while attacking an flanking an enemy.
  • Use (Improved) Staff Sweep: you will get a power over time buff. Remember this is also a melee skill, so you have to go near to your enemy. If it is a high morale enemy, be sure to retreat after getting the bonus and let your pet tank the opponent. If there are 2 or more opponents, remember that staff strike will hit multiple targets (AoE skill!), and that there is a chance that a monster will attack you after using this skill (instead of others or the pet)
3 skills will give you a bonus when your pet has flanked an enemy. read them carefully to choose the best bonus you want. The bonuses are outlined in a yellow box. So, if you need morale, use Wizards Fire, if you want to do extra damage use Staff strike, if you need more Power, use Staff-sweep.

Be quick!
The flanked effect lasts only 7 seconds, so be quick to use the appropriate skill to take full advantage of the flanking effect. After you have used one of skills which give you a flanking bonus (see above), the flanked state of the enemy is terminated. You have to wait until the enemy is flanked again.

Be quick: the duration of a flanked enemy is only 7 seconds!

Know your flanking chance
The flanked state is not a skill you can use, but it is a chance of happening depending on the attacks of your pet. So, the faster a pet attacks, the more chances you will get for a flanked enemy! The flanking chance depends also by the type of pet you will use. Some pets will flank more often than others. So, if you want to take full opportunity of the flanking bonus, know your pet flanking chance. Below is a list of pets which flank the most:
  • Bog-guardian: a pet that can flank a lot and has also ranged attacks. Most of the time it will flank your opponent, but sometimes it seems a bit unpredictable and it will not flank an enemy until the next encounter.
  • Eagle: the eagle is by most players known as the most reliable flanker. It usually flanks once every 15 to 20 seconds. It is a very safe pet if you want attack a powerful enemy, to take full advantage of the constant bonus heals you can get bu using Wizards Fire on the flanke enemy.
  • Raven: like the bog-gardian and the eagle, the raven flanks most often. However, be sure to attack the foe and don't use a pet-skill that doesn't attack the enemy.
  • Lynx and Sabre-tooth: both cats have the same flank chance, but they don't flank very often. Although the lynx can cause huge damage when he does a surprise attack, its total damage on a high morale enemy (signature, elite or nemesis enemy) is lower then the total damage of the higher chance flankers like the bog-guardian. I dont use these pets anymore when attacking enemies with hig morale or bosses.
  • Bear: the bear has the lowest flanking chance, so don't use it if you want to have full opportunity of the flanking bonuses.
  • Spirit: a spirit is a healing pet, not an attacking pet. It can give you only a flanking bonus  by using the combat-pet skill: Flashing Flank.Using this spirit pet-skill will cause always a flank event; however the cooldown is 45 seconds. Many pets will flank at the same rate or more often, without having to use a skill for it. The only advantage of this skill is that you can choose yourself when you want a flank on an enemy.
